The head-choppers have said that the Russian military bases in Syria will be safe - hoping that that will be enough to keep Russia out of the picture.

Russia is currently sitting back and watching, knowing that the factions that have "won" Syria hate and distrust each other. A lot of blood will be shed there very soon.

The Turks hate the Kurds, and Erdogan never got over losing access to Syria's oil. His son was selling it on the black market before Russia bombed all those oil tanker trucks, and stopped the theft cold. Then the Yanks, with the help of the Kurds took over the area, stealing $30 million worth of oil per WEEK.

The Kurds have 50,000 ISIS held prisoner. If they release them all hell will break loose.

Today Turkey made a move against the Kurds, sending tanks into north eastern Syria. Erdogan desperately wants his dibs on that oil again. That will pitch Turkey against the US.

The Turks hate the Israelis, and both want to do a big land grab in Western Syria. Although the head-choppers have said they would never invade Israel, and were supported by Israel in the past, when they invaded Iraq and Syria, nobody trusts them. They are so erratic and ruthless that they could turn Syria into another Libya. And they are fragmented.

What is really unfortunate is that Lebanon will now be cut off from Iranian arms. They say at present they are well armed, but that situation will not last.

Iran, like Russia, is sitting back and letting the different groups fight each other.

Soldiers in the Syrian army were receiving $7 per month, even generals were only getting about $40/month. Whereas the US was paying the Turkish-backed head choppers $2000/month (Alistair Crooke's figures). So the SAA troops were ripe for being bribed.

Those Syrians eagerly returning will be walking into one unholy mess. Pity help Syria.

Thanks for that Joy - what an unholy mess.

Thanks for the summary Rob.

What a state of affairs?

Assad was certainly no saint and was hated by many in his country and around the World for sure.

Like you say there is definitely some type of deal by the hidden world rulers.

It is surely going to get messy, very soon what with the extremists, Israeli stab in the back,, Kurdish interests., Turkish bullying and US plundering.

Sad for the Syrian people really.

Thanks for that. I think I said somewhere that there are so many variable in play here that it is impossible to predict other than making the assumption that it's not going to be nice. Refugees are being sent home from European countries because Assad has gone, only to be face the daunting prospect of entering a country ruled by people who the West accepts are terrorists. It's like some dystopian futuristic movie. Yes - it is so sad for the Syrian people

Thing is, why did the Syrian refugees have to go to White Christian majority countries, far away? Instead of nearby Jordan and Saudi Arabia, closer to home.

Another exceptional piece done in short compass. I think the Russians will learn a valuable lesson from this for their SMO in Ukraine and it means the end of Ukraine. They now need to control the whole of Ukraine. No Idlib in Lviv. The Israelis are opportunistic fools as Erdogan quietly resurrects Turkish hegemony over the region. One things for sure: Syria was a buffer between Israel and Turkey. The Buffer is gone and now there is the basis of a direct contact line between the two. On a more serious note the BBC is reporting that a failed Sultana harvest in Turkey last year has caused the price of mince pies to increase this Xmas. I think one of the main factors for Assad's downfall was he had lost the support of the Alawites. I hadn't realised that. Without the Alawites he was finished. The final thing is the scheming western governments are now proclaiming that its now safe for Syrian refugees to return to Syria and are suspending refugees applications.

Thanks Michael - I had to write about it. I didn't know the Alawites existed until I did my research for the article and I certainly didn't know what was happening in Idlib. Poor refugees eh. Hey - Richard SH has announced that he won't be posing about Ukraine or the ME anymore

A shame about RSH he made some great points but his delivery was sometimes a bit intense. The dynamic of events is very peculiar. The chaos in the ME is clearly the unravelling, deliberately, of the post WW1 settlement. Goodness knows where it will end up.

It is a shame about Richard in a sense. It would be good to hear his thoughts on this because he had very firm views about the outcome of the ME conflict so I wonder whether he saw this coming. I doubt anyone did really apart from some of those in the Syrian Intelligence services. I'm finding out more and more - almost OD'd on Syria Stuff. I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgjelyQPt_c - which I found fascinating. It's features the diary of a Christian officer in Assad's army. I think I've said elsewhere that there are so many variables in Syria that no one will be able to predict what will happen - until it's upon us. Just like weather forecasts really. So goodness knows where it will go. If you want to be depressed, watch Ritter while Doctorrow will give you a tad more optimism. But Hey - this was to be expected. The Hegemon will not simply roll over and die: it is playing a high stakes game commensurate with the threat to its dominant position.

Assad seems to have ignored the warnings from Russia and Iran, and trusted the Arabs and delegated the military leadership. He paid the price.

Israel was involved with constant bombings including a pager attack prepping the battle space for the anti Assad forces. U.K., French were involved. U.S. bombed in the East pro Iran forces.

Russia and Iran recognized Assad made decisions that weakened his power, and they let him sink.

There seems to be no end to the depths of depravity where the modern 'Axis of Evil' ( U.S Deep State , UK/EU banking elite and Israeli Zionists ) will not stoop.

In their endless hunger of power and wealth, they have wrecked yet another country and caused needless suffering of millions.

One can only hope that they are stopped before everyone is either dead or their slave.
