The US and Trump lost all legitimacy, in my view, when they turned intelligence to Ukraine back on. Supporting the killing of Russian citizens is a bad faith action, and unless something is going on behind the scenes, Russia should just focus on finishing the job, militarily.
I can’t figure out why they’re doing this. To openly speak about recognizing Russia’s security concerns, then the spectacle with z, then turning back on (apparent) full military and intelligence support. And I don’t buy the 4D chess argument, unless there’s a LOT more going on via back channels then we’d expect.
I don't know what's going on either but there is no shortage of theories. Have a look at this from Scott Ritter, who believes that Jeddah, the ceasefire agreement and all that followed was simply theatre designed to get Europe and Zelensky to agree to a ceasefire in principle. But the decisions had already been made between Putin and Trump. Scott appears certain that it is true: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW3my9P1S5M It sounds plausible to me but my agnosticism requires evidence.
Great update Rob. I think Russia saw right through the ceasefire attempt to rearm the nazis and blame the Russians for rejecting a ceasefire.
They fired right back with their own questions and conditions which now puts the ball back in the US/ Ukraine's hands.
It is well thought out diplomacy by Russia.
As you highlight Von der Leyen's 800 billion emergency fund just shows the issue with the EU commission branch and its abuse of emergency powers by unelected morons.
Been a very interesting week though. Big well done to the RF for collapsing the Kursk bag!
Cheers Anthony - agree with everything you have said. Putin's diplomatic approach was spot on - and I expected that it would be. The US team are beginners who will learn from their Russian counterparts - which will benefit everyone. The US has forgotten diplomacy and they must learn it again. Hey - with regard to Ursula - Larry Johnson called her von der 'lying' - clever. The story of the week should have been the Kursk victory: the men deserved that - but politicians got in the way.
Yes Rob, it is telling that the evil von der leyen is the top figure of the European warmongers.
I read that Trump apparently asked Russian forces to show mercy on the surrounded/withdrawing troops at Kursk.
I also read on a substack that the Russians were not firing artillery at some of those retreating.
So now they are free to show up on the Chasov Yar or Pokrovsk fronts?
There must have been quite a few important nazi units left in the Sudzha area-and not just territorials to go through all the trouble of trying to con Russia into an early ceasefire.
On the surface, it looks like Trump has been sucked into the Ukraine war.
Thanks Rob. Excellent as always. There seems to be a lot of shadow play with Trump as he seems to say contradictory things everyday. Who knows what his actual positions are, maybe they change too. You sometimes get the impression that he is making it up as he goes along. I suppose time will tell.
You could be right. I get the impression that a lot of people are making it up as they go along including the European leaders. One minute they are screaming war like banshees, the next minute their mouths are stuffed with olive leaves.
Another useful distillation of the week. Thanks. The Krainer interview is excellent, though I'm pretty sure he's said exactly the same thing in multiple interviews over the last month or so.
I enjoyed the Two Bob's debate with Nima. Geoff and Paul Craig. We'll worth catching on Dialogue Works.
Europe and the US have been deliberately deaf to what Russia has said from the outset, that its goals were to de-Nazify and de-militarise Ukraine. European peacekeepers will therefore be out of the question.
When the SMO was well underway Putin also said that Odessa was the endgame, which means Nikolaev will also be added. The people of Sumy would also like to come under Russian protection.
Unlike the US, a nation that goes to war with no endgame, Russia sets limits. The leaders of the EU, with all their nonsense about Russia invading Europe, must be cynically investing heavily in defence industries, in the hope that European nations will divert large funds into their respective militaries.
Putin's appearance in fatigues, at the time when Ukraine and the US were doing their ridiculous one-sided negotiations said it all, "This is over when we say it is over". And that will include having a Russia-friendly government in Kiev, and the west of Ukraine going to Russia-friendly nations.
Thanks for that Joy. Yes - the globalist Europeans are deaf about lots of things. Did Putin actually state that the Russians would go to Odessa? I missed that. But I did hear him say that Odessa is a Russian city. I don't speculate very much but I would guess that any deal made will require referenda in Russian speaking oblasts, such as Odessa, Nikolaev, Kharkov and maybe others.
O the realm of the dwarf king with moobs
Got deflowered by thrusts in her tubes
They had turned off the gas
Which turned out to be rash
Now their foe has them grasped by the pubes
Clever- cheers.

Appreciate the update, as always, Rob.
I agree - I wouldn't trust the Trump team at all after this. Maybe Putin's military attire was saying just that: the war will be finished militarily.

You won't find information of anywhere near this quality in Germanspeaking Europe. Many thanks to Dr Rob Campbell. Beat Wick, CH

Informationen von auch nur annähernd dieser Qualität sucht man im deutschsprachigen Europa vergeblich. Ganz herzlichen Dank Dr. Rob Campbell.

That's one of the nicest things anyone has said about the blog. Much appreciated.
Good summary as per usual Rob.
Amazing work by the North Korean troops in Kursk completely collapsing the Ukrainian lines in 2 days.
Can’t understand why the MSM haven’t been all over this story as it proves what they have been saying for months.
Yes - and the North Koreans are so bashful that they are hiding rather than taking credit for their good work.

Cheers for that Glasshopper.
Thanks Rob, for all the detail and links.

Another excellent report. Thanks.
Cheers Don - always a pleasure.
