Another excellent recap. Rob. again. kudos. I don't have to spend much time during the weak on this boring and fading conflict thanks to your recaps.

"Some say that Nasrallah had a agreed a ceasefire with Israel just before he was killed."

I cover that in my latest Substack. That entire ceasefire plan was a setup. Someone reminded me that this is how they got Qassem Soleimani as well - he was in Iraq on a peace meeting.

As for the Israel raids into Lebanon, there definitely has not been a major offensive yet. Most of these raids have not even really crossed the border, and Hezbollah has been hitting them in their staging areas. One "elite" IDF unit encountered Hezbollah troops - probably not even the Radwan special forces - and was nearly wiped out. The IDF has lost various estimates up to 60-70 troops already - and the so-called "invasion" hasn't even started.

This discussion between Larry Johnson and Pepe Escobar is useful:

"But the myth of the Iron Dome has finally been exploded.".

More importantly, the Iron Dome was never involved, or at least would never have been useful. It's designed for short-range, low-speed small projectiles like Hamas rockets or Katyushas. It was never designed for large ballistic missiles. What failed pretty badly were the David's Sling and Arrow 2 and 3 AD systems.

Expand full comment

Interesting times, we really have no idea how this will play out. No one has computer models that can forecast this. Yes - I know about the dome's shortcomings but I see it as a mataphor for the hollowness and impotence of the the Uni-polar anachronism: the ultimate Wizard of Oz (The Emperor has no clothes) metaphor we know so well.

As always Rob, excellent.

Never known a time when the leaders of the West were such traitors.

They would be out of their depth in a birdbath. Hard to see how they will get a smack without us getting one as well, but they really need waking up and hard lessons seem to be the only way.

Expand full comment

At present, the only way to smack them is through the ballot box. They are fighting that by labelling opposition parties 'extreme right'. Once the word 'communist' was their favourite term of abuse. Changing times.

I think the key thing regarding Iran NOW is that it is clear that Russia has got its back. We know about the Samson Doctrine so loved by the Zionists - well, they don't like the idea that THEY may become a target IF they dare use nukes on Iran. Russia has changed its rules regarding the deployment of nuclear weapons. This was partly as a result of the threat regarding Ukraine from long distance missiles BUT also, I now think, because of the threats from Israel towards Iran as they move towards finalising a security agreement alongside the BRICS meeting on 22nd Oct. I suspect there will be widespread support from BRICS for the Iranians and Russia. This is where Putin has proved to be a first class strategist.

The key thing will be HOW Israel responds to the latest Iranian rocket attack. The US doesn't (appear) to want it but leaving that aside, IF it just goes for a limited hit then the Iranian strategy will have worked. If it's an all-out attack that is largely successful, then Iran - given the support from Russia - can afford to hit back very hard knowing that they are under the Russian nuclear umbrella.. They ought to aim at military target AND the settlements in the west bank and thereby drive a wedge between the neo-fascists and 'the rest' in Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli's are being drawn onto Hezbollah territory in southern Lebanon and taking casualties. Hamas is not defeated and they are doing this! Militarily stupid.

Expand full comment

I'm on a Palestinian Telegram channel which is claiming that Iran will target gas and oil if Israel retaliates. They are militarily stupid because they are ideologically driven.

Expand full comment

Mass insanity on their part. I see Trump endorses Israeli retaliation on Iran's nuclear sites.

Is it true that the October 7th pro tolerance kibbutz and peace concert attacks were disliked by the establishment and this is why the guard was let down by the Israelis?

It appears that nothing will change vis a vis Israel if Trump gets in.

I hope that Trump will get adviser who tell him, when he does something which will be negativ for the US.

Expand full comment

He was a novice in his first term and picked some very poor advisers - so let's hope he will be better advised this time around. It's hard to tell whether the hard line position he is taking on Israel/Iran is electioneering or not. Being tough is popular in the US. But surely he must have advisers who know what Israel is doing in Gaza, The West Bank and Lebanon. In spite of the criticisms of him, I don't think he's inhumane - so if he knows what's really going on, he will try to stop it when he is free to do so., but that's the optimist in me talking. The Israeli lobby in the US is massive and maybe Trump knows that causing it offence would harm his election prospects. If he is to save America, which he feels he is ordained to do, he must be mindful of this.

Re Obama (Obomber) being controlled by the CIA. Obama is thought to be 3rd generation CIA: Step-grandfather and possibly grandmother; mother; and him. He certainly followed their agenda. In order to continue his work, Biden was his glove puppet. It was spooky to see Biden wandering about like a lost soul while in the background Obama held court surrounded by a group of acolytes.

In the Larry Johnson/Pepe Escobar interview PE stated that there were 50 casualties in the IDF's first incursion into South Lebanon. He also stated that Iran hit 3 Israeli air bases, and that at the major one, N, half of the F-35s there were destroyed.

Iran was saying "You ain't seen nothing yet" with this limited strike. I am wondering if the US is so threatened by the upcoming BRICS conference that it might green light either Ukraine or Israel to try to do some major damage, to start a major war, in order to derail the BRICS processes.

PS What does RoW mean?

The Rest of the World. Yes I agree that Iran was giving a demonstration of what it can do and it will have impressed the Israeli public as well as giving a huge morale boost to the Palestinians and their allies. Thanks Joy

Thanks for the update Rob and very well put together.

I think Maryana Bezuhla is a 'plant' from the Yermak regime to control Ukrainian emotions.

Strange how the UA units holding Ugledar were told to stay put until the last minute. Then a retreat was granted when it was already impossible.

Sort of like a Tom Hanks (saving private Ryan) moment for the troops to buy time to fortify the next line of defence with a new twist of political commissar/nazi ideology thrown in.

Order was held by the cannon fodder-whilst funds were syphoned off to supposedly build defences

somewhere in a sea of corruption!

A wonderful propaganda opportunity and there is not much hope for the UA if they cannot see what is going on around them.

I read recently that ex CIA agent Chip Usher was pushing for the development of a new intelligence agency that would focus on gaining information from different sources to those targeted at present. .

Apparently the budget would be around a cool 1 billion of grift.

Onto next week and the next new world order chronicle of mis-management..

Thanks Anthony. She could be a plant I suppose but it's a good story line.

Thanks Rob, I have noticed teflon Bezugla gets away with speaking out a lot.

Looking at wikipedia you can glean that she was never a popular person in Ukrainian politics.

However she is very pro nationalist/ anti Russian at the same time, goes without saying really..

Could be planted in by the Banderists or globalists as well I suppose.

They like a bit of cabaret in Eastern Europe and it seems they have transferred it to their politics.

I read on Ukraine pravda that that this comedian (Sergei Chirkov) was mobilised. The one that repeated Zelenskys promises at the Summer festival?

It must have made him the unpopular comedian.

Brave man to speak out on stage. Bezugla is an anomaly - and I have wondered whether she is 'controlled opposition'. She is still fully behind Zelensky from what I hear.

Expand full comment

With true Ukrainian opposition silenced, permanently such as Gonzalo Lora, or just ignored by the media and/or censored, you wonder why a person gets coverage. Controlled opposition sounds in target.

In the U.S. media I ask the question why this person is being interviewed or quoted. There is usually an agenda behind it. The headache is figuring out the agenda being pushed.

What is the criteria for getting the Nato job: ectomorphic body shape or to be born in a country where martial spirit is measured by how fiercely you can wave the white flag. Rutte looks like the type of guy whose siblings might be his cousins. (They are). The war in Ukraine is going painfully slow but i guess thats a war of attrition. You see parallels with the Middle East where Israel has clearly determined to terrorise the civilian populations throughout as she is slowly attrited. The problem the Israelis have is her opponents haven't so far used terror tactics against her. If they do the modern residential high rises and commercial buildings in the CBD areas of Tel Aviv etc could easily be blown asunder. Its a frightening prospect. Thousands of Israel'is could be killed, Why would you risk that.

Years ago I could look at BBC news and get a more or less get a good review of events, but since the Tory government interfered in the 'independent' BBC, it has been a mouth piece for right wing ideas.

The West always seems to tell countries and people "Do as I say, not what I do" and the the Western industries have be stripping resources from the RoW and often charging high interest rates on the RoW when they want to develop their own economies

Expand full comment

What an absurd statement. The BBC has become a left wing mouthpiece. Compare coverage of BJ and KS and associated freebies. Starmer getting a completely free ride. Also Starmer and EU, completely uncritical view as Starmer tries to ease UK back into EU. The BBC has a total bias when it comes to C19 and Climate Change, no debate. As for ‘fact checking’ , a joke.

Expand full comment

Starmer isn't actually a beacon of left wing virtue.

Expand full comment

This is why I have given up using 'left wing' and 'right wing' without inverted commas. As a former 'left winger' I can see nothing 'left wing' about Starmer or the BBC. Starmer is more accurately described as a neo liberal globalist and the BBC supports the globalist project. And in that role, the BBC supports lockdowns, vaccinations, AGW and Wokeness - all the things I oppose.
