Another good weekly report, well done.

Andrei Martyanov says the official toll of Poltava is now 500:

QUOTE:

Translation: MOSCOW, September 6 — RIA Novosti. About 500 specialists, including mercenaries from European countries, were killed and wounded after the attack on the training center in Poltava, a high-ranking military source said. "About 500 specialists were killed and wounded. Among the dead and wounded: servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard — communications specialists, operators of electronic warfare systems, electronic intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as foreign mercenaries from Poland, France, Germany and Sweden who trained Ukrainian military personnel," the statement said. He also stressed that such strikes on deployment points of Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries, as well as on military facilities, will now become regular.

END QUOTE

He focused on that last part - "regular" means from now on more such strikes will be launched.

As an aside, I posted this over at Andrei's site - a response to Gilbert Doctorow:

Quote:

I was listening to Gilbert Doctorow on Judge Nap yesterday. First he declares as an iron-clad certainty that Russia won't move beyond the Dneiper. Then he suggests that since Russia wants to eliminate western Ukraine's "threat" to Russia that Putin might consider "flattening Lvov".

This is idiotic. Since when has Putin been interested in massacring civilians?

Doctorow forgets that Russia fought an insurgency for ten years against western Ukrainians - been there, done that - and then controlled western Ukraine for another 35+ years after the insurgency petered out in 1956.

And then Russia did Afghanistan and the Chechen wars and Syria. Did Russia learn something from all that? Of course they did.

This is the Internet and drone age - armed drones with thermal imaging, pervasive surveillance of cities and towns with infrared camera networks, pervasive surveillance of all telephone and data networks. It is now almost impossible to conduct an insurgency of any kind - urban or rural - unless you have spent the last twenty years digging tunnels and redoubts 100 feet underground like Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran - using North Korean technology.

Start a rural insurgency, the drones will kill you. Start an urban insurgency, the Chechens and Wagner will kill you. If you can even get one started because after Russia takes Ukraine, thousands of military police, Rosqvardia, and GRU, SVR and FSB agents and analysts will swarm Ukraine looking for troublemakers and deporting anyone who looks at them cross-eyed.

As "I am on record" since April, 2022, Russia will control all of Ukraine - that it needs to control, which is not much - and place a new Western Military District on the borders of Poland and Romania equipped with everything it needs to counter any NATO threat, specifically including those Aegis Ashore installations in those countries. Russia will use its new 2-million man army to build an "Iron Curtain 2.0" from the Black Sea to the Arctic, insuring that the West can never threaten Russia again as it has multiple times in the last two centuries.

And Russia will do it without massacring people like Doctorow believes, simply because they don't need to.

END QUOTE

Andrei's response to that:

QUOTE:

I don't know why Doctorow is even considered an expert in strategy of Russia. It is an established rule now--most opinions of people without background in Russian military are a waste of air.

END QUOTE

Thanks for that - I'm not impressed with Doctorow either and I agree that Putin would not involve himself in something that caused mass civilian casualties. He would not want that as a parson and he knows that his allies would not be impressed.

The steady stream of fires and explosions throughout otanland are a mystery none so far have unraveled and few have speculated on outside conspiracy circles. There's been msm mentionings of unidentified drones, lights, etc, over eu military bases but I've yet to read any stories msm or otherwise about sightings over industry. Yet, firefighters are busy. Incompetence? Underpaid workers taking monies to perform or not perform certain actions? Small untraceable consumer drones dropping crude textile-wrapped incendiaries that leave no trace? Artillery launched nearby? God? DEWs? An automotive oils supplier with contracts to general dynamics and who knows else burnt to the ground just yesterday in akron ohio. That one at least, wasn't DEW from a satellite unless BRITE-PL2 suddenly gained new functionality. There's a rather successful low-level attrition campaign taking place within otan. Whether these are external attacks or attacks from within by those us leaders with the goal of the destruction of their own nation is up for speculation.

I see the Poles are again agitating for reparations from Germany. They miss the point which might come back to bite. The Poles obtained the lands from East Germany post ww2. East Germany was occupied and had limited say in the loss of West and East Prussia, Silesia, Posen, Danzig, Konigsberg etc; the expulsion of the populace and Polinisation of those who braved it out. East Germany received no reparations. We now are seeing a clear political divide in Germany. The East Germans know their former bloc allies well. They only trust the Russians. I can see the whole of Eastern Europe in flames with the post war settlement and boundaries being thrown out the window. The Americans knew this would be the danger if they moved East. Nato would be used to settle old scores. The problem that has been created is that Poland has been resurrected to a power position that it had lost historically to Germany and Russia, which has created a manufactured power imbalance which again needs reordering like Ukraine. Same with Israel. You have created and imposed a manufactured state which has no relation to the historic state it pretends to be the successor of nor the region it has been imposed upon. I think the East German dynamic is worth watching. The interesting thing is that Eastern Germany was far less supportive of the Nazis than the rest of Germany. I have to say i find it slightly disconcerting to see the wider manipulation of the western populace with the war in Ukraine. I went for dupinner last weekend the menu had chicken Kyiv, there was a march for Ukrainian independence day in Perth, Scotland, and the family of my old neighbour, who died, asked for donations for Ukraine at his funeral. He had no Ukrainian links.

The east/west Germany thing is interesting and highlights the value differences between the two but also between east and west generally. Thanks.

I subscribed, for free, so I now get a notification for your substacks.

Again this week it was very informative. Since the name of this substack is Ukraine Weekly Update, I assume that you began this effort because of the Ukraine war. It has evolved to be a summary of global geopolitical events.

I am suggesting a source that might be of interest. I'm sure that you are already overwhelmed with news feeds but the failure of liberal and neo liberal politics in Germany and the rise of AfD party which has the traditional parties scared about the loss of their democracy.

The writer of this substack was an Associate professor of philology who began a substack covering the Covid-19 "pandemic." He is German and spent a number of years in the US, returned to Germany, and his substack was so profitable that he resigned from the university to blog full time.

eugyppius: a plague chronicle

https://www.eugyppius.com/

He posts once or twice per week so there are many back issues and I will link a few of them.

The latest post is how the Robert Koch Institute, the CDC of Germany, was overridden by the Health Ministry which politically manipulated the Covid response. This has happened in many parts of the world but seldom has the gap between government science and politics been exposed. Here in the US, the federal health regulatory agencies have been so taken over that this kind of exposure would be hard to duplicate. Importantly, it was whistleblowers and a legal case that exposed the corruption in Germany.

"Top health official admits in court that 'independent' pandemic expert advice was steered by politicians, that virus risk assessments were political & that vaccine mandates had no scientific rationale:

The President of the Robert Koch Institut (the German CDC) destroyed much of the public mythology of the pandemic response in testimony before an Osnabrück administrative judge earlier this week.

** since the word "democracy" has such an immediate understanding, it locks the mind of a person making it hard to engage in a dialogue, he made up a nonsense word, Fuggalu, to enable thinking about the meaning of democracy. This substack ends with the platform of AfD which looks just fine. The author in a recent tweet says approximately: I have no political position or power, but if I did, 30 seconds discussion with me would so shake you that you would welcome a moderate effort like AfD.

"An inquiry into Fuggalu, or: How the guardians of German democracy aim to protect our democratic constitution by punishing those who argue that the pandemic response was anti-democratic

"The performative morality of the left and the pragmatist threat, or: Why our political establishment has become so childish and naive, and so deranged by the phantom "extreme right"

A modest theory of present-day political dysfunction."

*** I found this interesting that civilizations don't just collapse overnight. Here in the US, the two political parties are totally afraid that the other political party will end democracy in the US and our country will collapse.

*** probably I have posted too much, but here I post an article and two paragraphs from it

"The sad farce of German "democracy"

eugyppius May 14, 2024"

https://www.eugyppius.com/p/the-sad-farce-of-german-democracy

"To live in Germany in 2024 is to be lectured constantly about democracy. An endless parade of doubtful personalities – pundits, experts and a lot of very shrill women – appear on the television every night to tell you which parties are democratic, which people are democratic and therefore who enjoys democratic legitimacy. As we have seen, however, the whole concept of democracy is very confusing. Those people and organisations who want to mute free expression and ban political parties are all held to be extremely democratic, while those parties that demand more direct democracy and talk constantly about respecting the popular will are the direct modern equivalent of illiberal antidemocratic fascists.

To make all of this even harder, we are told that the upcoming September elections in Thüringen, Brandenburg and Saxony present a grave threat to democracy. To counteract this threat we have things like the Thüringen Project, where our greatest legal minds are at this very moment brainstorming ways to defend Thuringian democracy from the political preferences of actual voters. Crucially, the very existence of the Thüringen Project means that democracy must still reign supreme in Thüringen. Otherwise, there would be nothing for the democratic police of the Thüringen Project to defend. We therefore need only study Thuringian politics in their present state to gain a better idea of what this mysterious, shape-shifting, elusive phenomenon we call German democracy might be."

I dont how i missed it before but i didn't appreciate that the dam the "Russians" bombed last year actually fed into the canal system which supplies the water to Crimea. Considering the first thing the Ukrainians did when Crimea seceded was to stop the water supply to Crimea causing a complete crop failure; and considering the first thing the Russians did, once they took Mariupol and the area, was to reconnect the water supply: i thing we know the true intention of the perpetrators.

Great update Rob.

What a sorry state of affairs that the Western leaders will not give up their supply of weapons to the banderists.

Thousands are slaughtered everyday and its fronted by an ex comedian and a film producer sitting in Kiev.

I wonder how the once great Z was changed.

Does anyone remember the video of him telling Azov etc to cease military action in Donbass at the start of his tenure. Still on Grayzone I think.

He was then threatened and next thing incorporated banderist formations into the UA .

I was just reading over the Volyn massacre on wikipedia the other day. (not a bad source for a change if you just want rough facts)

The hatred for other races was strong in the nationalists then and it is still as strong if not stronger today.

I just wonder what percentage non banderist supporting UA has been recruited throughout the war and why the hell they are still fighting for such a regime./ egged on by the duplicitous West?

Onto next week and lets see what happens.
