The devil is in the details. Russia will not deviate from its initial goals: to de-militarise and de-nazify Ukraine.

I agree: Russian will not deviate from those goals, which also demanded Ukrainian neutrality. What would Putin say to his people if he did not achieve the goals that so many Russians have died and suffered for.

Thanks so much. Dr. Rob, for your great and prompt reflection on the phone call. I have just read the news about the phone call on RT.com and your analysis is perfect. Trump is making a good effort to be friends with Russia and to hear what the root problems are. He seemed not to know much about them a while ago, but now he is learning, that is a good thing. And also it is great to see that Russia is firm about achieving its goals. Trump is doing good things at home, but he needs to change his Zionist attitude, if he wants to be come a world's peacemaker.

Cheers Tilly - let's hope Trump will learn.

It is not easy being an empire on the way down.

An empire that maintains a façade that they can still force nations to comply. Some still comply, many more are standing up to pressure.

And the bully in charge of the US, who modifies his positions on a moments notice, is using a tactic of chaos which did break the silence of the Biden administration. But normal diplomacy is not possible by playing out positions on the media.

The deep ignorance of US/NATO about Russia, and the need for Russia to be the devil, means that their attention will only be awakened on the battlefield.

The recent freak out of European leaders shows the Russian wisdom of going slow. Europe does not like being a remnant.

Cheers Don - In standing up to the bully, Russia is inspiring the emerging multi-polar world order: i.e. it's leaders and its people. I am so glad that Putin gave Trump and everyone else a reality check.

Oh, the penny has dropped - "conflicts in the Middle East" means Yemen and 'the second front' opening up there. Putin is saying "cool it, buddy"?

The whole negotiation process is a slow move to the current reality that the west is dead and powerless. The ultimate agreement will headline that.

I wonder how long until Ukraine breaks the 'partial ceasefire' against infrastructure targets. My bet is that by dawn they'll have already sent drones to attack something that they agreed not to.

Never mind, they didn't even wait until sunset before attacking a refinery.
